Osmanlıcılar araştırmalarını, sanki o sırada kendilerini kuşatan dünya içinde çok önemli bir rol oynuyormuş gibi, Osmanlı hanedanının çok mütevazı kökenlerinden başlatırlar ve bu araştırmacıların pek çoğu sanki Osmanlıların civarında daha önemli başka Türkler olmadığına inanırlar.
