1000186960 Editorial Review
Excalibur [Blu-ray] is a visually stunning reimagining of the Arthurian legends, crafted by director John Boorman. The film, released in 1981, is noted for its intricate storytelling that unfolds in three acts, detailing the rise and fall of King Arthur alongside his legendary sword, Excalibur. It gracefully pairs the narrative with a classical music score, including pieces like Wagner's 'Siegfried's Funeral March' and Orff's 'Carmina Burana', enhancing the film's epic feel. Many viewers appreciate the rich visuals brought to life by cinematographer Alex Thomson as well as the film's ability to encapsulate the dark and mystical nature of the tale. Fans of historical fantasy will find ''Excalibur'' an essential classic, presenting a mix of passion, power struggles, and tragic romance that resonates through the years.
