What are Command Strips 17201 Medium Command™ Adhesive Removable Interlocking Fasteners used for?

Command Strips 17201 are designed to securely hold a variety of items on walls without causing damage. These adhesive fasteners can be used for hanging framed pictures, artwork, or decorative items in your home or office. Their interlocking feature ensures a strong grip while allowing for easy removal and repositioning. Ideal for renters or those who frequently change their decor, these fasteners can help create a polished look without the hassle of nails or screws.

How do I apply Command Strips 17201 to ensure they stick properly?

To apply Command Strips 17201, first clean the surface where you'll be adhering the strip with rubbing alcohol to remove any dust or oils. Peel the backing off the strip and press it firmly against the item you're hanging. For the wall, press the other side of the strip firmly against the surface, holding it for about 30 seconds. This ensures a strong bond. The adhesive works best when applied at room temperature and on smooth surfaces, making them perfect for a variety of settings.

Can I reuse Command Strips 17201?

While Command Strips 17201 are not designed for re-use, you can easily replace them with new strips. Once removed, the adhesive loses its effectiveness. For ongoing projects that require frequent changes, consider purchasing additional strips to maintain functionality. If you need to temporarily remove an item, simply pull the tab straight down, which unpeels it from the wall without leaving marks.

What surfaces are compatible with Command Strips 17201?

Command Strips 17201 adhere well to a variety of smooth surfaces. They can be used effectively on painted walls, tiles, glass, and wood. However, they may not stick properly on textured surfaces, wallpaper, or brick. For best results, ensure the surface is clean and dry before application. This versatility makes them an excellent choice for different areas in your home, from living rooms to bathrooms.

How much weight can Command Strips 17201 hold?

Command Strips 17201 are capable of holding up to 4 pounds. This makes them suitable for hanging medium-sized pictures, decorative mirrors, and other lightweight items. For heavier objects, consider using multiple strips to distribute the weight evenly. Always refer to the specific weight guidelines provided on the packaging to ensure optimal performance.

Are Command Strips 17201 safe for use on all wall types?

Command Strips 17201 are safe for most painted walls and smooth surfaces, but they should not be used on wallpaper or unpainted drywall as they may damage those finishes. To ensure they work effectively without causing harm, it’s best to test a small area first. These strips provide a great solution for adhering items in your living space without permanent alterations.

Can I paint over Command Strips 17201?

It's not recommended to paint over Command Strips 17201 as this could compromise the adhesive properties. The strips are designed to maintain their adhesion and performance when applied correctly. If you want to change the paint color in your space, it is best to remove the strips, paint the wall and then reinstall them afterward. This ensures optimal performance and maintains the integrity of both the wall and the adhesive.

Do Command Strips 17201 leave residue on the wall when removed?

No, Command Strips 17201 are designed to come off cleanly without leaving a sticky residue when removed. To remove them, simply pull the tab straight down, which releases the adhesive from the wall. This feature is especially beneficial for renters or those who frequently redecorate, as it allows for easy adjustments without the hassle of repairs or touch-ups.
