Atlas Tracks Editorial Review
The Atlas 500 36" Code 83 Super Flex Track is a popular choice for model railroaders looking for realistic and flexible track options. This pack includes 25 pieces, allowing for endless possibilities in creating authentic track plans. One of the main advantages of this track is its flexibility. It can easily be manipulated to fit various curves, even as tight as a 22" minimum radius. This makes it ideal for customization and creating unique layouts. The Atlas flex track is known for its high quality and accuracy to prototype. It is recommended for HO scale models, as the Code 83 rail height is the most realistic for this scale. For those who prefer the NMRA standard, which is taller but the same width (Code 100), Atlas also offers options to suit their needs. When it comes to installation, the Atlas flex track has predrilled nail holes for convenience. However, it should be noted that the stake holes are not drilled completely, so a small drill bit is needed to finish the drilling if you plan to nail the track down. Alternatively, you can choose to glue the track using clear silicone caulking. In terms of compatibility, the Atlas flex track is DCC friendly and works well with both DCC and DC systems. This makes it a versatile option for model railroaders who use different types of control systems. While the majority of customers are satisfied with the Atlas flex track, there are some minor concerns. For example, some users found that the drill marks for the nail holes on the ties were started on the underside, requiring them to finish the drilling before installation. Additionally, a few customers mentioned that they needed to use micro drills to add additional holes near the ends of the track on curves. Overall, the Atlas 500 36" Code 83 Super Flex Track is highly recommended for its flexibility, quality, and compatibility. It offers great value for the price and opens up endless possibilities for creating realistic and customized track layouts.
