What is the Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch used for?

The Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch is designed to automatically control the operation of sump pumps for water removal. It detects water levels and activates or deactivates the pump based on preset thresholds. This is particularly beneficial in preventing flooding in basements or crawl spaces, ensuring that your property stays dry during heavy rain or water accumulation.

How does the tethered float switch work?

The tethered float switch operates using a buoyant float that rises and falls with the water level. As the water rises, the float activates the switch, allowing power to flow to the pump, which then drains water. This design is effective in various settings, such as residential basements or outdoor water features, where automatic water level management is crucial.

Is the Superior Pump 92000 compatible with all sump pumps?

The Superior Pump 92000 is compatible with most sump pumps that can be activated by a float switch. It is crucial to check your pump's specifications for compatibility. This versatility makes it suitable for a wide range of applications, from household sumps to larger industrial systems, providing a reliable solution for water management.

What is the maximum water temperature the float switch can handle?

The Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch can handle water temperatures up to 140°F (60°C). This high threshold ensures that the switch functions effectively in a variety of environments, including hot water applications, making it suitable for different pumping needs, from drainage to wastewater removal.

Can the float switch be used outdoors?

Yes, the Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. Its durable construction ensures it can withstand exposure to the elements, making it an excellent choice for external water management systems such as pools, ponds, or outdoor sump applications.

What are the dimensions of the float and the tether?

The float of the Superior Pump 92000 measures approximately 6 inches in diameter and is connected to a tether that ranges from 10 to 20 inches. This design allows for flexibility in installation, accommodating different sump sizes, and ensuring reliable operation across various depths of water.

How do I install the float switch?

Installing the Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch is a straightforward process, typically requiring minimal tools. Simply mount the float switch into your sump pit or desired placement, ensuring that the tether has enough length to allow freedom of movement as water levels change. This installation ensures efficient pump operation, minimizing the risk of flooding in critical areas.

What should I do if the float switch is not activating the pump?

If the Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch is not activating the pump, it's essential to check for any blockages in the float's movement or potential wiring issues. Ensure that the switch is floating freely without obstruction. Regular maintenance of the system can prevent these issues and ensure proper functionality.

Is the float switch adjustable for different water levels?

Yes, the Superior Pump 92000 Tethered Float Switch features adjustable tether lengths, allowing you to set the activation points according to your specific water removal needs. This adjustability provides flexibility for varying sump depths, making it a versatile solution for both low and high water level management.
