Unlike the stock unit, this regulator requires a ground connection, which can be connected using the voltage regulator mounting bolt. The unit provides 14 VDC to the battery instantly and doesn't get hot. It charges better than the factory regulator, ensuring more voltage at low RPM and Consistent voltage at given RPMs. The unit also prevents the headlight from dimming when idling.
