The box has a smooth finish all around with a black plastic/rubber strip around the ends on which they sit. The finish is a matte steel which seems to keep finger prints off a little better compared to the 1st generation brushed steel. The box looks good on any countertop and can hold up to a full loaf of bread and more. The roll-top door has a smooth glide to its slide. This bread box is made up of excellent quality, is just small enough to fit on the countertop without taking too much space, but has ample space to tuck away everything that used to be clutter.
