Drama Editorial Review

The Blu-ray version of "Born on the Fourth of July" has received mixed reviews, primarily for its portrayal of the struggles of wounded service men following the Vietnam War. One OIF combat vet appreciated the film's production value, cast, and writing, but found the treatment of vets in that era difficult to watch. Another Vietnam vet described it as a sad movie. However, the power and thought-provoking nature of the film were also praised, and it was noted to stand the test of time, making it a must-watch for serious film enthusiasts. The dedication of Tom Cruise to his role was also highlighted, though some viewers found the excessive use of profanity distracting. Despite this, some reviewers expressed their love for the movie and its impact, with one person noting that they enjoy watching it every 4th of July and had even purchased the Blu-ray for that occasion. Overall, the film was commended for its depiction of a powerful, real-life story, while also receiving criticism for its language and accuracy.
