Horror Editorial Review
**** "Raw" emerges as a standout film in the horror genre, delivering a complex narrative woven with elements of psychological depth and social commentary. While some viewers may initially expect a relentless onslaught of gore associated with its subject matter—cannibalism—the film offers much more than mere shock value. Critics and audiences alike have praised it for its emotional resonance, as well as its exploration of themes like conformity, the challenges of adolescence, and the intricate bond of sibling rivalry. The acting is commendable, with each performance adding layers to the storytelling, while the direction effectively captures both the stark brutality and the subtle nuances of the characters' journeys. Music plays an integral role, further enhancing the film's unsettling atmosphere without overwhelming the viewer. Visually, "Raw" is striking, showcasing a blend of sterile environments and gritty, claustrophobic settings that mirror the darkness of the plot. The film has drawn attention not only for its content but also for the discussion it incites about gender representation in horror. Critics note a recurring pattern in casting that favors a narrow standard of appearance, despite the film's groundbreaking contributions to female filmmaking. Although some viewers have expressed skepticism about the degree of gore following reports of audience reactions, most agree that the film strikes a balance between horror and intelligent storytelling. Overall, "Raw" is well-received as an original, thought-provoking piece that defies traditional horror tropes and is likely to resonate with those seeking depth in their cinematic experiences. **
