- The OB-X8 desktop module from Oberheim is an 8-voice analog synthesizer that faithfully recreates the iconic sound of the original OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8. With two discrete VCOs and VCFs per voice, meticulously modeled envelopes and genuine Curtis filters, the OB-X8 delivers the punchy, bold tone that shaped '80s pop. The 61-key keyboard provides unparalleled expression, while over 400 factory programs and the ability to blend OB models give you a sonic palette never before possible in an OB-series synth. Pure Analog Signal Path The all-analog audio path of the OB-X8 cuts through a mix with warmth and clarity. It's the same signature Oberheim sound that defined classics like Jump by Van Halen and 1999 by Prince. Now, you can infuse your music with this timeless tone. The OB-X, OB-Xa and OB-8 voice architectures have been faithfully reproduced so you get authentic results. You can even blend elements from different models to craft entirely new sounds. Premium Keyboard Provides Expressive Control The OB-X8 features a 61-key keyboard with velocity and aftertouch sensitivity for nuanced performance control. The responsive keys transition smoothly between the three OB models, allowing you to play with authenticity. Pitch and mod levers are also included for bending notes, adding vibrato and controlling the arpeggiator. The premium FATAR keyboard provides a balanced, sturdy feel for masterful playing. New OB-X8 OS v2.0 Features The new OB-X8 OS v2.0 offers instant binaural mode for true stereo by panning voices left and right. It allows selectable waveshapes for each oscillator, enhancing timbral variety. The update includes a new 4-pole low pass filter for fuller bass at high resonance and new VCO level LFO modulation for independent timbral mixing. The arpeggiator clock sync now has selectable note division values, and memory locations have doubled, supporting 512 more stored sounds. Additionally, it supports separate MIDI channels for bi-timbral operation, poly chain for up to 32 voices and MPE for enhanced expressiveness. Connectivity for Stage and Studio Use With stereo and mono outputs, pedal inputs, MIDI I/O and USB, the OB-X8 Desktop Module is equipped for any musical scenario. The USB port provides a direct connection to your DAW for recording tracks and controlling the OB-X8's parameters. This desktop module packs pro features into a compact, stylish design, delivering massive OB tone for stage and studio alike.
