This AC voltage regulator is perfect for controlling fan motors, however, it can also be used to vary the speed of series wound motors. Halogen bulbs can be dimmed with this device, but you should read up on them and compulsion factors like their minimum temperature requirement. If used, one must operate them at 100% for substantial periods at other times. This AC voltage regulators would also fit a small 115vac fan with a 6-inch (150mm) blade. Another great use of the devices is to control the speed of a 1/15 hp power motor at 110V. The product has been reported to have a wobbling heatsink and variable potentiometer too small; that it failed after intensive usage, and that this will not work with AC single-phase motors. However, with careful installation and adjustments, the product would work fine for its specific use cases of fan and series wound motor control.
