God Lives Underwater Format: Audio CD Alt Industrial Editorial Review
** Life in the So-Called Space Age** "Life in the So-Called Space Age," the acclaimed album by God Lives Underwater, finds itself shining brightly amid the industrial and alternative music scene, drawing comparisons to the iconic "The Fragile" by Nine Inch Nails. Critics and listeners alike laud David Reilly's intense vocal delivery and deeply impactful lyrics, which resonate with raw emotion and a remarkable sense of vulnerability. Reilly's performance not only rivals Trent Reznor’s but arguably surpasses NIN in terms of emotional depth and lyrical richness. The album’s structure plays a pivotal role in its success, as each track flows seamlessly into the next, showcasing a remarkable variety of moods and themes. From upbeat tracks like "The Rush is Loud" to more contemplative pieces such as "Happy?", the album reflects a nuanced understanding of both the highs and lows of life. The standout closer, "Medicated to the One I Love," offers an unparalleled listening experience, combining poignant lyrics about unrequited feelings and friendship with a hypnotic electronic soundscape that lingers long after the music fades. Fans of the genre appreciate the album not only for its lyrical content but also for its high production values that avoid the trappings of over-polished sound. Instead, the carefully curated elements within the production help elevate God Lives Underwater’s signature style, blending industrial vigor with sharp lyrical storytelling—a refreshing approach that many listeners contend is still ahead of its time. In a world where the industrial music scene can feel saturated, "Life in the So-Called Space Age" stands out as a bold statement of artistry. Whether it prompts nostalgic feelings for bands like Depeche Mode or Nirvana or breaks new ground entirely, it is undoubtedly a classic that should not be overlooked by fans of alternative music. **
