What types of weeds does Fertilome 10885 Broadleaf Weed Control effectively target?

Fertilome 10885 Broadleaf Weed Control effectively targets a wide variety of broadleaf weeds, including dandelions, clover, and chickweed. Its active ingredient, Gallery, works to prevent weed seeds from germinating, ensuring a healthier lawn. This makes it an ideal choice for homeowners who want to maintain a lush, weed-free yard. When applied during the early spring or fall, it creates a protective barrier against perennial weeds, ultimately saving you time and effort in lawn maintenance.

How do I apply Fertilome 10885 for best results?

For optimal results, apply Fertilome 10885 with a spreader when the weeds are actively growing but before they set seeds. It is essential to follow the recommended application rate on the package. Mix it with water if necessary, and ensure even distribution across your lawn. Regular applications according to the schedule can significantly enhance your lawn's health by keeping both existing and potential weeds at bay, especially in targeted areas like flower beds or vegetable gardens.

Is Fertilome 10885 safe to use around pets and children?

Fertilome 10885 is designed for lawn care, but it’s advisable to keep pets and children off the treated area until the product has completely dried. While the ingredients are generally safe when used as directed, it is always best to practice caution. For the well-being of your pets and kids, wait at least 24 hours after application before allowing them to play on the lawn. Taking these precautions ensures everyone enjoys the benefits of a beautiful, weed-free yard.

Can I use Fertilome 10885 on different types of grasses?

Yes, Fertilome 10885 is safe for use on various grass types, including Kentucky bluegrass, fescue, and perennial ryegrass. It is crucial to verify compatibility with your specific grass type by consulting the label details before application. For instance, if you have a mixed grass lawn, this product can effectively help control unwanted broadleaf weeds without harming your healthy grasses, maintaining an attractive lawn year-round.

What is the coverage area of a 10 lb. bag of Fertilome 10885?

A 10 lb. bag of Fertilome 10885 typically covers approximately 2,500 to 5,000 square feet, depending on the specific application instructions. This coverage enables homeowners to treat large areas effectively, making it a cost-efficient solution for weed control. Calculating your lawn size and understanding the spread rate ensures proper application and maximizes the effectiveness of the product in maintaining your lawn’s aesthetic and health.

When is the best time to apply Fertilome 10885 for weed control?

The best time to apply Fertilome 10885 is in early spring or fall when broadleaf weeds are most vulnerable. Applying when temperatures are moderate also helps maximize effectiveness. Timing your application effectively according to weather conditions and weed growth stages enhances the prevention of weeds germinating, ultimately providing you with a cleaner and healthier lawn throughout the seasons.

Does Fertilome 10885 have a residual effect on weeds?

Yes, Fertilome 10885 has a residual effect, preventing new weeds from sprouting for several weeks after application. The active ingredient, Gallery, inhibits weed seed germination, which is critical for long-term weed management. This extended control means fewer resources spent on repeat applications, allowing homeowners to focus on enjoying their weed-free lawn instead of constant maintenance.

Can I mix Fertilome 10885 with other lawn care products?

It is advisable to check compatibility with other lawn care products before mixing, as some combinations may not be effective or could damage your lawn. Generally, it is safe to use alongside certain fertilizers, but always consult the product label for specific guidelines. By optimizing your lawn care routine with compatible products, you can promote a healthier and more resilient lawn.

How long after application before I can water my lawn?

After applying Fertilome 10885, it is best to wait at least 24 hours before watering the lawn. This allows the product sufficient time to adhere to the weeds for optimal effectiveness. Following this guideline ensures that your application performs as intended, ultimately providing the best results in controlling unwanted broadleaf weeds and keeping your lawn thriving.

Fertilome Broadleaf Weed Control with Gallery is a herbicide used to eliminate annual weeds. The product contains only one herbicide, isoxaben, which requires 4.6 to 5.7 pounds per 1000 square feet. Customers mainly used this product on their lawns, particularly on Kentucky Bluegrass and St. Augustine grass. Some users claim it provided great results and appears to have made the lawn more lush. However, some customers were disappointed in its effectiveness. One reviewer stated that the product failed to suppress any weeds, despite using four bags of it throughout the lawn. The reviewer does not recommend it.
