The lid lifter keeps things sanitary and minimizes mess, making measuring headspace easier. The funnel is perfect for filling jars without creating a mess. All components are dishwasher safe, but it is not recommended to sterilize them through boiling water for ten minutes because they were not specifically tested for this. However, the set is sturdy, less messy, and less needy than others, making it worth a few extra dollars. The diameter of the funnel in the bottom part fits inside a regular mouth canning jar, and the exterior fits around a wide mouth canning jar. The product is designed in the USA and made in China.
