Drama Editorial Review
**** "Endeavour" offers a captivating return to the world of Inspector Morse but from a different lens, focusing on the early days of the titular character. Fans of the original series and "Inspector Lewis" will find themselves deeply immersed in the intricacies of crime-solving amidst the scenic backdrop of Oxford. Shaun Evans shines in the titular role, embodying the young Morse with finesse—his portrayal is marked by an impressive blend of intelligence, intensity, and an unwavering determination to unravel complex mysteries. Critics and fans alike appreciate how "Endeavour" not only pays homage to its predecessors but also expands upon the backstory of Morse, answering lingering questions while maintaining respect for the original narrative. The writing and direction have garnered acclaim for their depth and engagement, though some viewers noted that the script could be a bit challenging to follow at times. The addition of veteran actors, like Abigail Thaw, not only enriches the narrative but also serves as a heartfelt nod to the legacy of Morse. With an impressive mix of drama, intrigue, and well-rounded characters, "Endeavour" stands as a worthy prequel that successfully invites viewers into the emotional and intellectual depths of crime-solving. The enthusiasm for further episodes is palpable, and many viewers are eager to see whether the series will elevate itself to the same enduring status as its predecessors. Overall, "Endeavour" has been lauded for its artful storytelling, top-notch acting, and its respectful nod to the original Morse saga, making it a must-see for mystery enthusiasts. **
