Seco-Larm Strikes SD-995C-D3Q Editorial Review
Seco-Larm SD-995C-D3Q The Seco-Larm SD-995C-D3Q steel door frame received mixed reviews from customers. While some customers found it to be a perfect fit for their shallow frames, others reported issues with the door catching and being difficult to open. One customer mentioned that they installed three of these door frames in a building and experienced tight gaps between the door and frame, causing the strike to catch on the door. This resulted in complaints from residents, and when they reached out to Seco-Larm's tech support for assistance, they received unhelpful advice. Frustrated with the situation, they ended up replacing the Seco-Larm SD-995C-D3Q with the HES 8000, which cost an additional $25 but resolved the issues they were facing. Another customer mentioned that the installation process was easier compared to the HES 'no cut' strike, but they faced a similar problem with the keeper sticking out past the strike plate. This caused the latch to bind if there was less than 3/16" of space between the door and the frame. They advised being cautious about the available space and recommended opting for the HES 8000 if there are limitations in space, despite the higher cost. Overall, customer experience and reception of the Seco-Larm SD-995C-D3Q are mixed. While some customers found it to be a suitable choice for their shallow frames, others encountered issues with the door catching and binding, leading to dissatisfaction and the need for a replacement.
