KORG MIDI Controllers NANOKEY2BK Editorial Review
The Korg nanoKey2 has garnered a mixed but generally favorable reception, positioned as a highly portable MIDI controller that excels in capturing musical ideas on-the-go. Users appreciate its diminutive design that allows for easy transportation, fitting snugly in a laptop bag alongside tablets and smartphones without requiring additional power sources. Many find the convenience of being able to practice chords and rhythms in varied environments, from airplanes to outdoor settings, a significant advantage. While it doesn’t offer the traditional feel of a synthesizer keyboard, with its button-like keys lacking the travel and spring action of regular keys, some users argue that this design actually facilitates rapid note play, making it easier to perform complex rhythms quickly. Furthermore, many have highlighted the usefulness of the uniform key size, which can benefit those learning to play scales and chords, encouraging correct fingering habits. Critics of the nanoKey2 often cite that it may not provide the tactile satisfaction expected from traditional keyboards, potentially posing challenges for experienced piano players used to the feel of real keys. However, for beginners and those looking for a portable solution, it presents an effective alternative to touchscreen inputs. The MIDI data capabilities also lend themselves well to editing and quantization, which helps refine musical compositions. In conclusion, the Korg nanoKey2 is praised for its practicality, lightweight design, and affordability, making it a commendable companion for mobile musicians and those looking to refine their skills without the Constraints of a full-sized keyboard. **
