The "Uncanny Avengers Volume 1: The Red Shadow Marvel Now Avengers" is a fair read for those who are into Marvel comics. However, some reviewers noted that there were some issues with the packaging, causing the book to arrive bent and creased. Furthermore, the book was filled with library book stickers that left a sticky residue after they were removed, and the pages had a bad smell to them. The story also required some recent knowledge, and it felt like it had huge gaps. Nonetheless, the villain, the High Evolutionary, was said to be an underused but high powered villain, and the art was great and fitting for the story and characters. The book may be challenging for those disconnected from current Marvel continuity, and although it is a volume 1, there are several volumes from the previous volume that precede it. Overall, the storytelling, pacing, and plot were masterfully done by Rick Remender, earning him his reputation, and the book has potential to develop Sabretooth into a more sympathetic character.
