The Native Instruments MASCHINE Production Workstation offers both standalone functionality and the ability to connect to a computer as a controller. In standalone mode, it comes with select Native Instruments synths, but can also control external hardware synths. When connected to a computer, it provides the same functionality as the MK3. The MASCHINE+ can be used as a standalone device by plugging it into the wall with the included adapter. It does not need to be connected to a computer and can be started up, signed in, and have content downloaded directly. The MASCHINE+ is a newer version compared to the MK3, offering a standalone experience in addition to the regular features of the MK3. While the MASCHINE+ does not come with the Maschine software for the PC, it can be used as a controller for the PC Maschine software if you already have it.
