Answer: It is a ceramic type of construction....yes, it's breakable. However, this is the least of your worries. The dispenser is terrible with any kind of reasonably thick liquid soap. I sent it back because it didn't work properly.....as did some other people that reviewed it. -

Answer: No--very cute but the pump doesn't work. Has to be replaced.
