What materials are used in the Shires Equestrian Tempest Original Mesh Cooler?

The Shires Equestrian Tempest Original Mesh Cooler is crafted from a lightweight, breathable mesh fabric that promotes airflow while providing warmth. This material ensures that your horse stays comfortable during and after exercise by allowing sweat to evaporate quickly. The mesh design is particularly useful in warm weather, as it helps to cool your horse down while still offering protection from drafts.

How does the Tempest Original Mesh Cooler benefit my horse's recovery?

The Tempest Original Mesh Cooler aids in cooling down your horse post-exercise, which is crucial for muscle recovery. By allowing moisture to wick away from the coat, it prevents overheating and helps avoid muscle stiffness. It's an essential piece for any horse owner's tack room, especially after strenuous activities like jumping or long rides, ensuring that your horse recovers smoothly and efficiently.

What size do I need for my horse when choosing this cooler?

This cooler comes in various sizes, and selecting the right fit is essential for optimum comfort and effectiveness. Measure your horse from the withers to the tail for a correct size, and refer to the sizing chart provided by Shires. For instance, the 63" cooler is ideal for ponies and smaller horses, accommodating proper coverage without hindering movement.

Is the Shires Equestrian Tempest Original Mesh Cooler machine washable?

Yes, the cooler is machine washable, which makes maintenance convenient for busy horse owners. Make sure to follow the care instructions provided to preserve the quality of the fabric and its fit. Regular washing keeps the cooler fresh and free from odors, ensuring your horse remains comfortable during its use.

Can this cooler be used outdoors as well as indoors?

Absolutely! The Shires Equestrian Tempest Original Mesh Cooler is versatile enough for both indoor and outdoor environments. It effectively protects your horse from insects and light weather conditions when used outside while also keeping them cozy in the stable. This multifunctional design makes it an excellent addition to your horse’s gear.

Does the cooler provide UV protection for my horse?

While the cooler is primarily designed for cooling and comfort, it does provide some level of protection against UV rays due to its fabric composition. However, it should not be solely relied upon for sun protection. For extended outdoor exposure in bright sunlight, consider using additional protective gear such as UV blankets or sheets.

What are the advantages of using a mesh cooler over a traditional blanket?

Mesh coolers, like the Shires Tempest Original, offer enhanced breathability compared to traditional blankets, which can trap moisture and heat. This allows for better cooling during hot weather or after intense activity. Additionally, the lightweight fabric makes it easier to store and transport, providing flexible use whether at the barn or on the go.

How do I properly fit the cooler on my horse?

To properly fit the Shires Equestrian Tempest Original Mesh Cooler, place it on your horse’s back, starting at the withers. Ensure that it covers the hindquarters and sits comfortably without restricting movement. Use the adjustable straps to secure it while checking that it’s snug but not too tight, allowing for freedom of motion. This ensures that your horse is protected and comfortable during wear.

Is the Shires Equestrian Tempest Original Mesh Cooler suitable for all horse breeds?

Yes, the cooler is designed to be suitable for a wide range of horse breeds and sizes due to its variety of measurements. From ponies to larger breeds, this cooler can accommodate different body shapes, ensuring a good fit and comfort for your horse. Ensure you select the right size based on the provided sizing chart for your specific breed.
