Answer: Mine is free standing and it stands very sturdy and strong. Follow the directions, all the wholes on the shelving match, no drilling necessary at all - just need to make sure you’re using the correct shelf in the right order. Good luck

The Coaster CO-801553 Bookcase is a beautiful, slim, and space-saving shelving unit that can hold a lot. Measuring 24.5 inches in width, 18 inches in depth, and 72.25 inches in height from the top to bottom, it can fit in most spaces. Made of high-quality clear acrylic, it gives a modern feel to any room and keeps the space feeling open. The assembly is easy and straightforward, taking less than 10 minutes. In addition, it is sturdy, standing strong and sturdy without the need for wall mounting or drilling. The Coaster CO-801553 Bookcase comes with little rubber stoppers you can stick on the bottom, preventing any sliding or tipping over. Despite the overall positive customer experience, some customers have received broken top shelves. This could be a result of poor packaging, compressing shelves, or repackaging an already broken shelf. Although a few customers have had success in getting a replacement, others have not been as lucky. The seller has been uncooperative in arranging UPS pickup for a return, and some customers have found it challenging to fit the packaging in their cars.
