The Philips Fidelio Primo Docking Speaker DS9 is a great sounding dock for iPod, iPhone and iPad. It has a 30 pin connector, so you'll need an adaptor for fourth-generation iPads and beyond. It is not battery-powered, so it needs to be plugged in to work. It charges your iPad while playing music and has a remote that works for both iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The sound quality is strong, clear, and great across all types of audio. It performs well in the mid and high range, and the bass is strong, clear and non-distorting. It has a beautiful design and must-have form factor with a curved back and upward tilt. However, the Philips DS9/27 is starting to become outdated with the 30-pin connector, but it remains an excellent product. The aux input doesn't produce the same quality sound as the docked device, and the built-in DAC isn't that great, but it still performs well with iPhones and iPads.
