Farpoint collimating Cheshire, 2" Diameter, FP261

The 2" Diameter Collimating Cheshire, identified as model FP261, has garnered mixed feedback from users regarding its utility and cost-effectiveness. On one hand, it has been praised for its ease of use in the collimation process for telescopes, offering newcomers a straightforward method to achieve precise alignment. However, the general sentiment expresses that while it fulfills its intended purpose, the markup in price seems unjustifiable to many. Several reviewers highlight that the same collimation functionality can be replicated using homemade solutions, such as drilling a hole in an old dust cap. This DIY aspect points to a significant Consideration for potential buyers: while the Cheshire is well-designed and aesthetically pleasing, its cost - roughly $78 - raises questions about whether such a purchase is truly necessary. Users with basic DIY skills quickly recognize that they can achieve similar results with much less expense. An alarming issue reported is a lack of quality control, with at least one user receiving a product that was out of concentricity, rendering it ineffective for collimation purposes. Overall, while the product serves its function, its high price tag, coupled with reports of quality issues, have led some Consumers to feel that it's an overhyped and overpriced tool. **
